JINDAL JUST LOST MY SUPPORT

by @ 6:38 am on October 1, 2009. Filed under Politics/Republicans, Sarah Palin

Looks like Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney are the only two left I can support in 2012.

Jindal blew it when he told republicans to “work with Obama.”

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal urged his party Tuesday to shift to offering health care solutions instead of just rejecting what President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority in Congress are proposing.

“I think now is the perfect time to pivot and to say, not only here’s what we’re against, and not only here’s how we’re going to contrast ourselves, but here’s what we’re for,” Jindal said in an interview with POLITICO.

Jindal acknowledged that the Republican Party for years had been too slow to stake out positions on the health care debate “to our peril and the nation’s peril.”

“I think that in some circles, it was viewed as a Democratic issue,” said Jindal, who served in top posts at the Department of Health and Human Services during the Bush administration and ran his state’s health department in the ’90s.

Jindal urged congressional Republicans to go to the White House and find common ground with Obama.

Well, only if you really believe that our health care system doesn’t need any reform at all. In which case Jindal seems like another RINO.

What Jindal seems to be saying makes sense, but you have to get past the headline. The GOP has NO position on this. They remain “the party of NO”. NO ideas. NO position. NO alternatives. This health care crap has been going on for months. If the ‘pubs have a position, if they have a real alternate plan, let’s see it already. Just going “Obama Lite” by scaling back the socialistic takeover 10% is BS, and that’s what I think Bobby J is saying. Just sitting around crying about it and calling it socialism is BS too, even though that’s the truth. Speaking the truth only points out a problem. Great, phase 1 complete. Now, what’s your solution?

A good alternative to Obamacare would be freeing up the insurance market, some tort reform, less state mandated coverage categories, etc. In other words, let the market be free, and let the buyers buy whatever policies they want. That COULD be a good position for the GOP to work from. That’s the Ann Coulter solution. But right now this isn’t the GOP position. They don’t have a position. And that’s what Jindal is trying to solve.

Yeah, I want to see some solutions from my side of the aisle too. Don’t just rag the Dems that their plan sucks. It does, hugely, but that’s not the point. The point is that the R’s in DC should have a plan of their own, should have ideas of their own, and they should be out there being debated, pro and con. But all we see is the “party of NO”. At least Jindal is honest about this. The GOP has been damn lazy on this issue, in case you haven’t noticed.

Is there some common ground? He seems to think so. “coverage of pre-existing conditions, access across state lines and between jobs, funding for electronic medical records, malpractice reform, Medicare and Medicaid reform, and expanding health-savings accounts and insurance purchasing pools.” These seem like good points to me, and would be what I’d call a success if that’s about ALL that a health care bill contained. More details than that I haven’t seen. If Jindal has a plan, roll it out, let’s see it. At least that’s a constructive approach.

And Jindal is right in saying that the dems OWN this issue and the debate. Because the dickless wonde(R)s in DC have let them do so. Come up with a plan, show us it’s better, cheaper, stronger, more American (ie freedom enhancing) and THEN beat the dems to death for their communist approach to this issue.

Drew, the point is that even IF the Republicans had an alternative, NO ONE on the other side would let it see the light of day. The only strategy they have is to stop it. To negotiate with Dems or Obama is like asking if we should get butt-fucked by a 5 inch dick or a 10 inch dick. In either case, we are screwed.

I’m all for NEITHER of those options so the only way out is to be the party of “No.”

Negotiations with democrats on ANY bill results in bad bills.

That does seem to be where we are right now.

But a good plan, a sensible plan, could be pushed. It would not be easy; the MSM won’t play. But the VRWC internet could be used, ad space could be purchased, Rush, Sean, and Glen’s radio shows utilized, letters mailed … and the word would get out. And it would look like actual leadership.

Sadly, that’s too much to ask. So absent that, “NO” is our best offense. Sad.
