KICKIN' AND SCREAMIN'...........

Dispensing truth in liberal doses...and...where on April 14, 2009 I went to bed a conservative gun owner but awoke the next morning, according to the DHS, a possible member of a right wing extremist group needing to be watched.

A GIANT STEP FORWARD IN PROSECUTING MIND CRIMES

I call it that for lack of any other words to use.

In a nutshell, a woman was convicted of manslaughter in the UK for texting.

Not while she was driving.

But for having had a “history” of having texted in the past!

Britain’s new guidelines state that using a hand-held phone when causing a death will “always make the offense more serious” in terms of punishment and lead to prison time. Texting is given special treatment.

Ms. Curtis was found guilty and sent to prison even though she was not texting at the time of the accident, because the new guidelines regard “reading or composing text messages over a period of time” as “a gross avoidable distraction.” Its effect, British judges have ruled, may go beyond the moment of composing a message. Such behavior is categorized the same as driving while drunk or high on drugs, as well as racing another driver.

This defies all my abilities to understand the mindset of ANY jury that could have found her guilty.

HOW!?!?!?!

How is it possible?

Using that as precedent, how long before people get arrested for DUI today because they drank to excess last weekend?

Or how long before people go to jail for causing cancer in others due to their smoking even though they’ve quit for 3 years?

Folks, this is VERY troubling!

What say you?

The enviro-moonbats must be very happy. Looks like they will be able to get people convicted for manslaughter for eating the Buffalo burger or driving to working instead of riding their bike 40 miles.
