Lord Smith of Finsbury believes that implementing individual carbon allowances for every person will be the most effective way of meeting the targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

It would involve people being issued with a unique number which they would hand over when purchasing products that contribute to their carbon footprint, such as fuel, airline tickets and electricity.

Like with a bank account, a statement would be sent out each month to help people keep track of what they are using.

If their “carbon account” hits zero, they would have to pay to get more credits.

Those who are frugal with their carbon usage will be able to sell their unused credits and make a profit.

Lord Smith will call for the scheme to be part of a “Green New Deal” to be introduced within 20 years when he addresses the agency’s annual conference on Monday.

An Environment Agency spokesman said only those with “extravagant lifestyles” would be affected by the carbon allowances.

He said: “A lot of people who cycle will get money back. It will probably only be bankers and those with extravagant lifestyles who would lose out.”

However, some have criticised the move as “Orwellian” and say it will have a detrimental impact on business.

Then there’s this story where the Dutch are going to tax people per kilometer driven (in return they will do away with about 25% of the price of buying a new car via current taxes.

Dutch motorists driving a standard family saloon will be charged 3 euro cents per kilometre (seven US cents per mile) in 2012. That would increase to 6.7 cents (16 US cents per mile) in 2018, according to the proposed law.

Every vehicle type will have a base rate, which depends on its size, weight and carbon dioxide emissions.

They make it sound innocuous enough, right? Except when you get to the part about “depends on size, weight and CO2 emissions.” Not to mention how it will more than double in 9 years.

So let’s do a little math. You buy a little POS with 3 cylinders which costs $13,500 (18000-25% taxes) and drive 12,000 miles per year. Your tax at the end of the year is 12000 x .07 = 840. You hang on to the car for 6 years (because you can’t afford a new one) and you’ve already spent more than what it would originally cost you to buy it outright today. And this goes on forever. No matter how long you hang on to your car. A person like me who buys a car every 15 years gets screwed.

And let’s not forget how that tax doubles in 9 years!!! I guess the Dutch will return to walking and riding bicycles while their economy goes into the shitter because no one can afford to get around in cars.

And that’s just an example for a POS car like the SMART. Imagine trying to own a Camry or a BMW 5 series or Mercedes or Town Car sized auto?

The Dutch were defeated by the Nazis in 1940. 70 years later they’ve turned into Nazis…of a different sort.

But it gets better if you’re Dutch!

They plan to use cow shit to power homes.

A plant that converts cow dung into energy for homes opened in the Netherlands Friday.

Manure from cows at a nearby dairy farm will be fermented along with grass and food industry residues, and the biogas released during the process will be used as fuel for the thermal plant’s gas turbines.

The heat generated will be distributed to around 1,100 homes in the area around Leeuwarden in the north of the Netherlands, the plant’s operator Essent said in a statement.

That’s wonderful , of course. Until you run out of cow dung because PETA and polticians are telling us to stop eating meat. Morons!

No wonder Europeans are being over run with Muslims.
