KICKIN' AND SCREAMIN'...........

Easy, really, they plan to raise taxes on the one segment of America that is its sole salvation from the economic mess we’re in: those who make over $200,000 ….. to fund the war in Afghanistan.

Higher-income Americans should be taxed to pay for more troops sent to Afghanistan and NATO should provide half of the new soldiers, said Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

An “additional income tax to the upper brackets, folks earning more than $200,000 or $250,000” a year, could fund more troops, Levin, a Michigan Democrat, said in an interview for Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital With Al Hunt,” airing this weekend.

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag has estimated that each additional soldier in Afghanistan could cost $1 million, for a total that could reach $40 billion if 40,000 more troops are added.

That cost, Levin said, should be paid by wealthier taxpayers. “They have done incredibly well, and I think that it’s important that we pay for it if we possibly can” instead of increasing the federal debt load, the senator said.

Before you get your collective panties in a wad and tell me that people who make that much probably deserve to pay more taxes or that you feel less pity for them since you only make $35,000 allow me to refresh your memories: MANY small business owners file their taxes like the rest of us do. They filed and are organized such that they use 1040s just like us. So naturally, their incomes are going to be higher. They catch their breaks on the back side of the form under tax deductions but the government TAXES them on the number at the bottom of page 1. So what it means is under current law, the money which they have left over (and many plow right back into the business to grow it) will be reduced substantially.

I hope none of you work for a business that files taxes this way. If you do, start saving like a crazy person because you may become unemployed if this bill passes.

Remember, too, that if this passes, any improvement we might have seen in the economy will evaporate. But, that’s the democrat game plan, too, considering their hatred for all things American.
