KICKIN' AND SCREAMIN'...........

Dispensing truth in liberal doses...and...where on April 14, 2009 I went to bed a conservative gun owner but awoke the next morning, according to the DHS, a possible member of a right wing extremist group needing to be watched.

US WEEKLY ON THEIR KNEES BEGGING

by @ 4:11 pm on September 9, 2008. Filed under McCain/Palin, Media/Media Bias

Recall the kerfuffle over the covers on the issues of US Weekly where Obama is given knob-gobbling coverage and Sarah Palin is made out to be a liar and scandalous?

Well, thousands of people called to CANCEL their subscriptions BEFORE the issue ever came out!

Now US Weekly is begging those folks to come back by offering them 5 free issues!

Magazine subscriptions are just gravy. As with all magazines, most of their revenue comes from advertising. Therefore, all those advertisers need to be contacted and told that people won’t be buying their products if they continue to advertise in that rag.

    Lisa,

From what I recall the model for a rag is the subscription revenue is profit, but you have to remember, their advertising rates are based on distribution.

If their distribution numbers take a bit hit, their advertisers are going to take a step back before they sign contracts, which will of course put downward pressure on ad revenues.

It would be interesting to see if the same happens to liberal print and telecast medias as liberal radio ?? It would be cool!

Tom, it’s already happening. All the big papers have seen HUGE drops in subscriptions. Sure, some of it is people opting to get news on the internet but a lot of it isn’t. I dropped my local paper because it was a liberal rag. Many more like me out there.

    Vilmar,

Definately on the news paper and magazine revenues. IIRC, there are a number of magazines that are still doing fairly well, of course, most of them are special interest, hobby and leisure oriented. again *IIRC*.

I was wondering if the same thing will hit cable and network news. For the same reasons liberal radio is dying, will liberal broadcast news as well? In my household my wife will occasionally put on CNN during the day, but other than Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck about the only boradcast news I will watch is Dallas Fox 4 news for the local side.

Broadcast news die? Sure, as soon as people STOP watching it. Just turn it off completely. Not catch the weather on it. Or sports. Or local news. Then the channel off completely. Believe me, someone will notice and this crap will stop.
