This just flat out pissed me off.
With the Florida House passing a resolution to apologize for slavery, Charlie Crist indicated he’d be amenable to reparations for them if they could prove their ancestors were slaves.
Great. Way to go, moron! Why don’t you and others like you pool your resources and pay these people rather than rape us in the wallets for the privilege.
Far as I am concerned, many Blacks in the US ought to be thankful that no matter how their ancestors got here they are better off in the US than in some shiitehole in Africa, eating scraps of bread, swatting flies and living in mud huts using arrows and clubs to hunt their food. (OK, yeah, yeah, I may be over-generalizing but if you can’t get my point then grow a thicker skin.)
And to think some people want him to be McCain’s VP.
UPDATE: Let me be clear here as apparently some people have their panties in a wad about my “Africa” statements.
First off, slavery is deplorable. But we do not practice it today. It is, however, still practiced in Africa with blacks selling blacks to other blacks and Muslims who, in turn, sell them to others. It happens now in the Sudan and Mauritania. No one seems concerned.
Second: since we no longer practice slavery, none of my relatives have ever owned slaves nor do I know anyone whose relatives have, either. What we have in the US is a class of people who, because of their skin color, seem to think the world is owed them and that the US is the great imperialistic Satan who is keeping them oppressed. The only ones keeping them oppressed in the US is themselves. They refuse to break their cycle of dependency on the government to give them their livelihoods. And to have them denigrate this great country now, decades after this shameful act of selling other humans has stopped, is disingenuous. If they despise it so much here, move back to wherever they came from. That goes for euro-Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or Blacks. But it still does not negate the fact of the statement that had those who DO have ancestors who were slaves not been brought to the US in ships they WOULD still be in Africa today. The others, who came after slavery was over should rejoice in the fact that they live much better lives here than where they came from BECAUSE if they doidn’t they’d have returned.

“Rape” – I don’t think you know what the word means. Squeal in outrage all you want, but using your tax money on repatriations isn’t even close to rape.
Now, sex with violence, or threat thereof – that’s rape… as practiced by many a slaveowner on many a slave in the US. It happened a lot to Blacks in your country – along with lynching and whipping.

I agree with you that the fact that our ancestors enslaved their ancestors doesn’t mean we owe them shit.
Unlike you, however, I don’t think that they owe us anything – including “gratefulness” –
